Going To School VS Home Schooling: What to Consider

Going to school can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it also comes with risks. Since you’re likely going to be away from home for the first time, it’s important to think through the many considerations that will impact your life, finances, and relationships before you enroll.

Should you consider going to a reputed boarding school, you could conduct some research to find out whether it has visitor management system for schools or not. If the school does have one, you can be assured that there would be no to-and-fro movement of any suspicious outsiders on school property. This, in many ways, could ensure that you are in a safe environment when in school. In addition, it could also ensure that only the students who are authorized may be able to leave school property. This suggests that there would also be a lower risk of runaways.

Going to School

So, what are the things you should keep in mind when thinking about going to school?

Advantages

More Interaction.

Going to school means learning new things. School is a social experience, giving you a chance to interact with people outside of your immediate circle. It also provides you with opportunities to take on leadership roles. Being a leader in school is rewarding and is a great way to learn valuable leadership skills. The school will help you develop social skills and new friendships.

Traditional Experience.

Whether university or college, going to school is a rite of passage for most. For generations, it has been an educational tool for people to better themselves and their families. For some, college is just the next step of their education, while for others, it is the start of an entirely new life.

Disadvantages

No Flexibility.

School can be challenging at times, especially if you are a busy college student working a full-time job. Lack of flexibility can be a huge disadvantage when it comes to school since you have to juggle class, work, and family life. Fortunately, technology has made it easier than ever before to access school materials, complete assignments, and get work done around your schedule.

Travel Considerations.

School is supposed to be fun. You study, you get good grades, and you make friends. Then, college happens. Suddenly, you’re juggling classes, assignments, and exams, and it’s harder than ever to get everything done. Suddenly, you have a lot more time on your hands, and it’s tempting to distract yourself with a trip to the beach, Disneyland, or Europe.

Going to college is an exciting time in your life, but it can also be daunting. The stress of having to make decisions about your education, choosing a field of study, and deciding where to enroll can be overwhelming.

Home Schooling

Homeschooling is becoming a popular option for families who want to teach their children at home. There are many benefits to homeschooling, including the freedom to choose from a curriculum, schedule, and activities that best suit your child. However, not everyone agrees that homeschooling is the best option for their child. It’s not suitable for every family, and it is important to recognize the advantage and disadvantages of homeschooling before deciding.

Advantages

One-on-one teaching.

One-on-one teaching offers many benefits. Unlike a traditional school, your child will truly benefit from individualized attention when they may be in a class with 30 or so students. Additionally, this type of teaching allows the teacher to tailor your child’s curriculum to meet their needs and abilities.

Flexible schedules.

A flexible schedule is an advantage that your child will have when homeschooling, as you can decide how and when your child learns. While the public school has certain hours, your child will be able to take lessons at any time of the day through a private tutor.

Control of the curriculum.

Control of the educational curriculum is a big reason for many parents to home-school. By embracing a self-directed learning approach, parents gain complete control over their child’s development. There are several resources that offer curricula for specific subjects, but many parents choose to design their own curriculum from a wide variety of resources. By choosing which material to use, parents can decide their approach to a subject and whether or not their child is receiving adequate instruction.

Disadvantage

Expensive.

I have slowly been starting to realize that all of the posts that parents are making about home-schooling are not entirely correct. There have been a lot of posts that say how expensive it is to home-school, how you have to buy supplies, etc. These are also not correct. You have to purchase supplies technically, but you do not have to buy absolutely everything.

Lack of structure.

One of which is the lack of structure. A child is naturally curious and learns by exploring their environment. When they go to school, they are forced to face challenges and interact with other children.

Limited sports access.

However, this list of disadvantages of homeschooling shows why many homeschoolers want their kids to play sports on a real field with other kids.
